As a former Projectionist, Technical Manager and 20-year veteran of film festivals, I wrote a book to enlighten filmmakers with the technical knowledge of how a cinematic film presentation actually works. My goal is to bridge this knowledge gap so filmmakers can optimize their films for the big screen. I'm writing a book that focuses on newer filmmakers and non-technical readers by explaining technical details in a fun and accessible way. It also provides explanations of common issues and pet peeves I have encountered during my many years as a projectionist. This is a pitch book I designed to give a look and feel to potential publishers.
Educate filmmakers on how the cinematic presentation of a film works. Provide some simple guidelines to help them avoid encountering common presentation issues. Set expectations on how their artistic choices will translate to the big screen. Provide them with confidence and peace of mind that their screening will go well.
This book tells you only what you need to know about cinematic presentations, so that you can get the best screening possible. It breaks everything down into non-technical language anyone can understand and uses tons of illustrations, so you can see exactly what’s being talked about. It will also provide you with simple guidelines for formatting your video and what deliverables you will need to provide to the cinema for your screening.
